Wisdom Teeth Extraction (Oral Surgery)
What are wisdom teeth?
Wisdom teeth generally start developing in our late teens. They can be an asset to your mouth if they are strong and properly aligned. In many cases, though, wisdom teeth are extra teeth that you don’t need and/or don’t have room for.
Wisdom teeth extraction is considered oral surgery and is performed by our oral surgeon. We are able to extract fully erupted, partially impacted, and fully impacted wisdom teeth at our practice.
How do you know if your wisdom teeth need to be removed?
While there is no specific age at which your wisdom teeth need to be removed, here are some warning signs that can alert your dentist:
- Can impacted wisdom teeth be seen on your x-rays?
- Is there crowding in your mouth before or when your wisdom teeth start developing?
- Do you have pain in your jaw or the back of your mouth?
Our oral surgeon Dr. Shokri uses state of the art technology (Panorex x-ray and CBCT scan) to evaluate the extent and type of wisdom teeth impaction and which teeth need to be extracted.
