Root Canal Treatment (Endodontics)

What is a root canal for?

A root canal is a conservative procedure. Most people mistakenly believe that a root canal can cause intense pain. Actually, root canal therapy will relieve pain, save a damaged or fractured tooth, treat infection, improve your health, and rejuvenate your smile.

Why do I need a root canal?

Your tooth has three layers: the solid outer cover of enamel, the inner level of dentin, and the soft core of nerve cells referred to as pulp. If your tooth sustains severe damage from injury or decay, the pulp is prone to infection. The tooth can die, and infection grows, causing pressure to build inside the tooth. A severe toothache usually follows.

How long does a root canal treatment take?

Root canal treatment can take anywhere from 1-3 visits depending on the complexity of the case.

Our endodontist Dr. Kano will use state of the art technology (microscope and CBCT scanner) during the treatment. He will administer local anaesthetic to ensure your complete comfort. He will then remove the nerve, clean and disinfect the canals, and fill it with Gutta percha, a thermoplastic plant-derived material.

Feel free to contact us if you have questions about root canals or to manage your pain/discomfort on any tooth.
